Excellent and authentic Mexican food. I was born in Mexico and live in Texas. I won't go as far as saying taste like grandma used to... I live in San Antonio and know Mexican Restaurant food. Definitely great authentic Mexican food restaurant.

Good, flavorful, food. Price is great for what you get. Wait staff was quick and friendly. The chips we got and everything else that came with it was hot & fresh. Shame on me for living so close and not trying this place sooner. Will be back for delicious, coma-inducing food.

I was in town on business and craving Mexican food...so, I found this place on Yelp. And I was not disappointed. My waitress was very friendly, and i never had to ask her for anything! And the lunch menu was great, I went with the tacos...some of the best tacos I've ever had! I tend to judge a Mexican place by how good their chips and salsa are, 9 out of 10 times if they are good...so is the food that follows. And theirs were delicious, so once again my method worked! Probably my favorite thing was the refrained beans! They put a lot of love into their cooking! I loved this place so much I went back the following day and ordered the same thing!

This is a great place to go for authentic Mexican and tex mex. The price is good for all the extras that you can have served up for the asking.

I was super excited about this place because of all the good reviews, and it's right next to my house. The food was decent, and the service "meh." To start off, the queso has close to no flavor. Even after I mixed some salsa in to try to fix it, it still just wasn't good. I got the enchilada platter. With the grilled veggies and beans. The veggies had a great flavor! I was very impressed, although it was just peppers, onions, and mushrooms kind of sauteed. The enchiladas were pretty good, but a little bland for my taste. Don't forget they're cash only, because they wont remind you until your meal is over. Given the 10 mexican places nearby, I will probably go somewhere else in the future.

We had a fantastic dinner tonight at Casa Perico. I had the pork, and it was a 10. The flour tortillas give Ted's a run for their money! Excellent My husband had enchiladas and was really pleased. The food had such a good flavor, we were both very happy and highly recommend Casa Perico.

Best Mexican food hands down. Authentic and delicious. They also have a vegetarian selection which my wife loves. The wait staff is amazing!

Dinner was satisfying. Generous helpings but nothing special. Colorful interior and cheap drinks make it more fun. Chimichanga was good but everything was just a little too cheesy. Smother everything with salsa and it's pretty tasty.

This was amazing food! The salsa is so good and so is the white cheese! Chimichangas are amazing! The grilled vegetables are sooo good. The staff was very friendly and the food is fresh!

My husband and I have lived here for two years, just down the road from this place. We finally bit the bullet and gave it a try. Wish we would have gone sooner! They have delicious buttery tortillas, fresh salsa, and queso dip. My husband ordered the hot (temperature) habanero sauce, and said he would go back just for that. Our food came out steaming hot, and was EXCELLENT. The servers seemed a little confused as to who was supposed to wait on us, but once they did, we got great service. Can't wait to go back to try some more food from their menu!

I've eaten here a few times and have zero complaints. Food is fresh and seasoned well. There are so many mexican places in the area and this is one of the only ones worth going to.

I orderd Carne asada to go with rice and papas rancheros to go . When I got it home I had Carne asada and corn with papas rancheros. No tortilla chips and approx. 2 spoon fulls of salsa and cheese sauce. If you want to get it to go at this restraunt check your order, and don't expect much.

Well. I'm pretty happy for two reasons: A) This is super close to my house B) My fave waiter from Las Palomas works here. I thought I had lost him forever! I love small, mom and pop Mexican food places. I think they remind me of my childhood, when I didn't count the carbs in each chip. (Okay, I don't do that now, either, but I am now sadly aware that chips contain carbs and should therefore be verboten. I digress.) So, after carefully reviewing the menu, I order what I always order: -Chips with queso and salsa -Chicken fajitas, no sour cream and flour tortillas -Sopapillas with honey So good. The chicken chunks were a bit too big for me, but that really is the only thing I would have changed. I ordered this for my family after they lovingly helped me move into the new place all day. A double order of fajitas, plus an order of chicken quesadillas and sopapillas was less than $8/person, or roughly what I would have spent on fast food. Everyone was way happier than they would have been had I ordered a bag o' burgers, and I'm glad to be so close to a neighborhood Mexican place.

I have tried most of the dishes on the menu, and everything is so good. The service is great and their prices are very reasonable. I'm definitely a regular here.

Wish I would've found this spot sooner. My wife works in the area and had been mentioning it a lot saying her co-workers loved it. I'm glad we tried! It was great! Good chips, salsa, queso and food.

  • Tiffany L.

Very decent Tex-Mex. The salsa is very good, the queso is a bit too watery, and the flour tortillas are quite excellent. I ordered the tamale dinner with rice and black beans. The beans were exceptionally good. The tamales were yummy, but I wasn't blown away. The margarita was very tasty as well. And finally, the service was fast and friendly. I'll definitely return.

I have been searching OKC for truly good Mexican cuisine! My friend and I went to Ted's but the line and the wait was so long we yelped for other Mexican Restaurants nearby. We saw the stars for Casa Perico and decided to give it a shot. We were definitely surprised!! The exterior and decor isn't on par with Ted's but the outstanding service and fresh flavorful food surpassed those expectations by leaps and bounds! This is FOOD PORN at its finest! I kinda don't want to give it such a great review because I don't want it to get too crowded! They make their own chicken tamales in house and they are some of the best I have ever had in my lifetime! They graciously allowed me to make substitutions at no additional charge and the food was delivered to the table within moments of ordering! This is soon to be THE destination for Authentic Mexican Cuisine in OKC. They also offer a decent vegetarian selection and have a seating area for outdoor dining! I'm making this my favorite Mexican food restaurant in OKC!

If you're huge on service, this is definitely a place to come! Every single one of them is very helpful and aren't afraid to tell you what they enjoy most and be honest about what they're going to serve you. I enjoy their chicken quesadillas and their papas!! They are sliced potatoes as opposed the mashed ones you get at certain places and topped with great salsa! Going here for dinner tonight as well!

Came back to OKC and took some friends to Casa Perico. Everyone loved it. Request the hot salsa if you like habanero fire. Service was great as always, the place was packed but I didn't see anyone waiting too long. Get the PORK!

  • Cara O.

I was very disappointed in the watery cheese sauce. The salsa was decent but nothing fantastical. I got the nachos supreme and they were awesome. I loved my nachos. My husband was very disappointed with his burrito and my son hated his quesadilla. I did think the flour tortillas sucked. The service was really good though. The only thing that saved this place was the nachos and the service. My husband probably won't go back but I might for the nachos.

Being from South Texas, I'm especially tough on Mexican food places (apologize in advance restaurant owners/managers). In my book, general occurrences resulting in docking a star are 1) no tamales, 2) no Big Red, 3) rice, 4) no flautas, 5) bland salsa. These are the rules and Casa Perico almost follows them all. Ordered the Cena Mexicana, substituting to just two cheese enchiladas with carne sauce. Could really tell this was a homemade meal, with the way the flavor of the tortilla stood out in the enchilada. No onions in them by default (no one likes a crunch in cheese). Meanwhile on the other half of the plate, THE TAMALE WAS OUTSTANDING. I REPEAT, THE TAMALE WAS OUTSTANDING. Best tamale in OKC that I've tried, and I've tried quite a bit of them. Ultra stuffed and just great all around. If you haven't noticed, highlight of the meal. The chili con carne sauce was above average and got the job done. Additionally the chips, salsa, queso all slightly above average. So was the water. Wait what, water? #NoBigRed. See rules above. Surprisingly the rice was bland. This is the moment when you add up the stars and the rules and go what just happened. That's right Rule Modification to the rules I just presented, some standard I have, on to the next reviewer. Although hear me out, the refried beans were very very good. I really don't know why either, just something different about them. These weren't your store bought refried beans. Ground up a lot more, smooth, tasty, I don't know, just good. So I've overlooked the rice requirement on account for the beans (as I ask myself did I just write that). Nevertheless, my experience ended without a sopapilla because I was stuffed/satisfied/done for. I bet it would be good though. (Ever had a bad sopapilla? I think not.) The atmosphere reminded me of some restaurants I've been to in Ole San Antone. Not flashy, touristy, just a good Mexican food restaurant, and that's exactly what Casa Perico is. Well done, I'll be back. (P.S. add Big Red for 5 stars)

Awesome food. The chicken and beef fajitas were delicious. The Pork Verde was to die for. The unlimited salsa and chips were great. All the sides were delicious! The Margarita and beer were so refreshing. The service staff were extremely cordial and treated you like family. Go, bring your family and friends, you will not be disappointed.

When I was staying in Oklahoma for my time with the FAA, Casa Perico was right down the street from my lodging and became a favorite of ours instantly. The first time I ordered the pulled chicken nachos here, I was a bit disappointed with the way they looked...looks can be deceiving. The nachos were on large tortilla chips and only had cheese and chicken on it but the consistency of them was amazing. With a little bit of sour cream, these had to have been the best nachos I've had in a long while. Also, the margaritas weren't too bad.

We like the food and the service. Like other Mexican restaurants, they want to weight you down with rice and re-fried beans. Of course, they are cheap. But everything appears clean and well prepared. I usually try to order al-carte, like an order of tacos or an order of enchiladas. I'll give them five stars. They really work to please, and overall, the food is really good.

I will have to "re-review" this place again. I have eaten here in the past and it was a pleasant if not "mind elevating Hispanic culinary experience". But this time.......EVERYTHING was "meh". Service cold; not gruff but certainly not friendly. Not that attentive. Had to ask busboy for refills on drinks. Went with a girlfriend and her small child. Maybe the server didn't like kids? Weird vibe because this is a neighborhood restaurant. Small, intimate and casual. Queso was bland; food was bland; salsa even. Just disappointed.

We were looking for a new place to eat so we took to yelp and found this restaurant. I was not disappointed the service was very friendly and the atmosphere was interesting. The food did not dissapoint everything we had was good. The homemade flower tortillas had a nice buttery taste to them and my chimichanga was crisp and flavorful. We also tried the deepfried avacados and there a must if you come to this location. The only reason for the 4 star rather then 5 is he forgot to put my deepfried avacado order in.

Sexy, sexy, sexy! I have eaten til I couldn't eat no more. The chef cooks who ever is in the kitchen is definitely doing it right. Tasted like something you'd find in Texas. Not your tex-mex food.l, but real mexican. It's now my favorite Mexican restaurant. My waitress is fabulous. Every recommendation she made was perfect. I am a little surprised that the cleaning staff didn't have to roll me to my car. I stuffed myself. So happy I found this place. I will be back.

Amazing. Our waiter brought out food, hot and amazingly good. My hub and I first time there and waiter did good, we have him a great tip. Food was excellent. I would definitely recommend it

It had been a while since I had eating at this Mexican eatery. I didn't have fond memories and there are other places that are better is prob why. This place is good but nothing special. The salsa is really good but the queso lacks something to be desired. This time I had the tamales and I would say that they were really good. I would come back here for the tamales and the salsa. Unfortunatey there are much better places in OKC to grab mexican food. I might be back here if all those places are jammed on a holiday and need a back up.

What a great find. Our group really wanted Mexican food. We chose this restaurant because of the solid Yelp reviews and the close proximity to our training seminar locations. When we walked in, they had to rearrange several tables to accommodate us. The owner waited on us personally. He seemed thrilled that one of our group members was fluent in spanish. The salsa and queso sauce were delicious. Our group ordered a variety of dishes, ranging from Huevos Rancheros to pork tacos to vegetarian fajitas. Everything was delicious. The drinks were equally amazing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting high quality, traditional Mexican food at affordable prices.

Got this to-go again this month and I just really can't stop thinking about how fresh and delicious it is. I would eat it every day if it was healthier. In fact, I already had dinner tonight and I want Casa Perico now. Or for breakfast tomorrow. Seriously.

As a Mexican food lover, I've been to nearly every Mexican restaurant in OKC. Casa Perico is my current favorite. They have always served fresh, great tasting chicken with my fajitas. The rice tastes great and includes peas and carrots - which I love. Staff and service are just fine as well. Only complaint is I wish their servings were bigger! If you are looking for a good, new Mexican place to try, go here.

This (and Chelinos) is about as real of a Mexican food restaurant that you can find in Oklahoma without resorting to a mainstream chain. They offer Tex-Mex or the real thing, you get to pick. As far as the varying reviews go, that's more indicative of the varying preferences people have towards their definition of Mexican food. Try out the patio here - it just makes the experience even more fun!

What is up with places that have tiny tables? There was hardly any room for all of our food (3 of us at a 4 seat table), plus our drinks and the chips they give you with salsa and queso. So like most Mexican places (is this Tex-Mex? I don't know, man) there's the salsa, queso, chips, and tortillas (corn/flour). Salsa (3/5): Meh. Meeeeeh. It wasn't bad. But that's because there wasn't much flavor to it at all. It tasted kind of 'green' if that makes any sense. Real plant'y. Habenero salsa (4/5): It had a spicy kick and some actual flavor to it. I only had it once because spicy isn't my thing. Queso (3/5): I can agree with a review or two that says it's kind of bland. It tastes good, but there is just something missing in the flavor element. I still devoured it like it was the last ounce of cheese I'd ever see again. Chips (3/5): They were a little too salty, which really distorts the taste of any salsa or queso. They weren't very warm, likely due to the fact that they keep baskets of them up on a shelf. 5/5 for preparedness, but warm chips are the bee's knees. Tortillas (corn and flour) (4/5): When I go to a Mexican restaurant it is literally usually because I have a craving for two things; queso and tortillas. And then I think, "Well, I guess a meal is cool, too.". I can't say I've ever come across 'bad' tortillas. Just tortillas that are better or not better than others. Cena Mexicana (4/5): * Cheese enchilada (4/5): The cheese was excellent. Melted within perfectly, and not liquidy or too solid. * Beef tamale (4/5): The shredded beef had a lot of flavor and almost perfect texture. * Chicken enchilada (4/5): Similarly to the tamale, the chicken was great. * Rice (3/5): It was just alright. Had a bit of flavor to it, but not quite there. The service was average, which is good in my opinion. We had a friendly woman for our table who was on the ball with drinks and getting the food out.

Great Mexican place, I've been there multiple times whenever I visit Oklahoma City. Unlimited chips & salsa as well as queso. The staff is very nice and the service is quick. Authentic Mexican, great food and a great atmosphere. Luncheon specials from 11-4 feature regular menu items at a cheaper cost. I will definitely go back and I recommend you try it as well. Quite possibly the best Mexican food around!

Never disappointed when we come here. One of the very few with great vegetarian options!! Very friendly and helpful staff.

We stopped here on our way back to Texas. The food is just as good as it was when I lived in OCK. I was just a bit shocked at how much the prices had gone up. The regular table salsa didn't seem quite as good as I remember it. The habanero salsa is awesome. I ordered the chile relleno. It was very good. My daughter ordered the Flautas and enjoyed them. My son had the puerco verde. He said it was very good. The service was good. The waiter was a bit hard to understand.

The Good: 1. "home-made" tortillas (they are actually made at the other location and brought to this location each morning, according to the staff. 2. My hubby, who LOVES salsa- LOVED the habanero salsa, too bad the chips were.... well, I'll save that for "the bad". 3. They have a cute little patio if you like to dine outside. The BAD: 1. The tortillas are a little different than traditional tortillas, these are a little more doughy and have almost a cake-like flavor 2. Chips are cold and stale due to the fact that they are kept in baskets on a shelf under a heat lamp instead of scooped fresh to order. 3. you cannot drink alcohol on the patio... so, you can forget about enjoying a margarita, or a beer for that matter, with your dinner if you decide to eat outside. 4. and, while we are on the subject- YUKI! The WORST margarita in town!!!!!!!! I ordered mine with no salt and on the rocks... guess what?!, it was SALTY because they have all the margaritas PRE MIXED! You can't even order a top shelf drink here. The only place I want a pre-mixed margarita is if I'm hanging out poolside with my fam, and I made them- not a restaurant where they should have the ability to make FRESH drinks (especially if I am paying $8 for it) 5. OVER PRICED- $12 for what what supposed to be "SUPER NACHOS" and we were served about 12 tortilla chips, sprinkled with a little beef and cheese then baked till beyond done. 6. the "grilled vegetables" were a greasy mess of yellow onions and mushroom stems, with only a few squash and zucchinni. 7. the service. I won't go into detail, we all know what is good and what is bad service... the service was poor to say the least. The UGLY: 1. I SERIOUSLY cannot believe anyone would find this establishment charming... you walk through old burro blankets to get the the tiny little restroom, where, they do not supply paper towels, only a hand dryer (annoying).

Wow! What a great place. Clean, fast and friendly service, and most of all wonderful food! I've had Mexican in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Texas, Frankfurt Germany and of course Oklahoma. Well aside from Frankfurt, OK Mexican has been pretty wanting...until we tired Casa Perico. What pleasant surprise. I had the Bisket a la Mexicono, or something close to that. Flank Steak, fried Jalapenos, sliced potatoes!, and baracco beans. The flavors are amazing. In addition to our meals we ordered the Habenero salsa, and an order of sauteed jalapenos and white onions. Wow! Heat and flavor. We finished the meal with a very good good sopapilas. Most Tex-Mex is Old El Paso bland, this is the polar opposite, flavorful, well prepared, and served. Oh, one yuck thing, the queso. What is up with this OK yellow stuff that has no flavor and doesn't harden as it cools?

  • Adam W.

Totally good, authentic mexican food! My wife ordered two enchiladas, and I had the chile relleno, which was delightful! The chips were fresh, and the queso/salsa was tasty. Service was speedy and the bill was cheap. Sopapilla's were a nice touch at the end. Will be back for sure! Would love to see paper towels in the restroom!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
